Lloyds Bank used to have 3 branches in Newbury when this photograph was taken. This one shown in the Broadway. The main branch in Bridge Street, and a third branch in Bartholomew Street. From memory, this is probably where Botan is today.

You can clearly see the Alfreda School of Dancing next to Lloyds Bank.

Anybody remember La Rivierra Restaurant which used to occupy the premises on the extreme left of this picture? This picture may have been taken before they opened in Newbury, a Greek restaurant operated by the Chamilos family.

We had some wonderful evenings in that Restaurant..   Father and son were excellent hosts and serve good food.

Father and sons (Nick and Zak). The best steaks in Newbury and the Dover Sole was fantastic (cooked to perfection). They have been sadly missed.

La Riveira is just about visible in this post card view (now the Gurkha Chef).

My mum used to work at La Riviarra. I remember going on a picnic with my mum and Zac. Happy days

Nick and Zak Chamilos and their father. The Rivierra closed in the early eighties.

The picture is from a postcard - the print quality is pretty poor, you won't get much from zooming in.
