It's fairly academic what the closures are for. When the signs, erected by WBC first went up around the area they said that the road would be closed for three months. We had a discussion about it on Newbury.net which has now disappeared with the loss of the old forum. FF, one of the prolific posters on here in those days who also happened to have inside knowledge asked why at that time I found the closure unacceptable.
What gets up my nose is that suddenly, we have another three months dumped on us. This shows a lack of planning by WBC who should have been up front at the beginning and said "The road will be closed for six months". What they have done is at a late stage slip it in, as if we shouldn't be bothered, because they are getting a cinema for us. By the way, have we forgotten that we have already suffered a full road closure when they dug the big hole and then couldn't get one of the utilities contractors on site.
So, the road will have been closed or partially closed for nine months, not six.
I'm not sure who said it but "Much work remains to be done before we can announce our total failure to make any progress"
