There can only be one winner. Though I suspect he has more than one login.

Whilst I think this is a good, fun event that will raise some cash for charity I must question the use of the word 'traditional' here.

One online dictionary comes up with a simple definition of 'tradition' as a specific practice of long standing.

How long has the pancake race been held?

Point taken!

Traditional has now been replaced with "Annual".

I think that the race has been run at least for the last ten years, apart from one year when it was stopped for health and safety reasons. Please advise when you feel that we can use the word "traditional". 2025 perhaps?

I don't suppose there is a definition of the length of time something has to be going to be 'traditional'. I have a simplistic view that it should have been going before I was born - which is a bit unfair as it gets longer each year.  On the other hand I have people using the terms to something that happened two years running. I guess that 2025 would be reasonable - 25 years would suggest that a new generation had taken it on and kept it going.

And there are the events that used to be held but aren't any more - the City mayor making for example. A lost tradition but one that could be revivied and called 'traditional' even though no one there had ever been to one before.
