Before we get too sniffy, it's worth remembering that pub prices in Cartergrad are too high for what's on offer. Village pubs are far nicer

Some village pubs are nicer - those that haven't turned into restaurants (though they are often nice restaurants).  However, the real problem is that you can't enjoy the beer if you have to drive home.

And if a cheap pint is your number one reason for selecting an establishment to drink in you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere cheaper than the new Wetherspoons in town.
