Anyway, my point was that Dodgy Dave is using similar arguments to the local tories - we're the party of efficiency and good management - in an attempt to win our votes.  Do you think those claims can be trusted?

No, but I don't think that could be said of the others either.  They are ALL guilty of deception.  NONE of the parties have a credible budget.  What I will say though, is that under the Tories, council tax has NOT increased by as much as it did with the Lib Dems, and, they sorted out a new dump, which the Lib Dems opposed.

I don't think the library is in the wrong place.

Do you mean the main library or the Wash Common one. I think that the criticism was that the Wash Common library was built for the affluent end of town and the less affluent were overlooked. It might be worth speculating how much use such a facility would get in the latter areas. Not much I suspect. I also wonder at the cost and viability of the former when the main library is struggling to fund weekend opening.

Dear me, did the libdems actually design the wonky library themselves?!  I had no idea - they should have used a decent architect.  No doubt the tories use a better one.

No - they use the same one.

Its not the funding that they are struggling with - its finding staff who will work on Sundays (according to the opening post / press release).

It seemed to me to be down to finance

Managers found it difficult to recruit staff for a trial of Sunday opening last year, but since then have managed to secure sponsorship from town solicitors Thomas Eggar to provide enough to open for 10 weeks.

Unless of course the staff of Thomas Eggar are working the Sundays in the library. I just thought that TE had plonked some money on the table, meaning, if that was the case, it's down to the money which will provide a ten week opening.

I read it that staff would only work Sunday for extra pay e.g double time and a day of in lieu.
