Be in with a chance of winning back the cost of tickets to the Berkshire Show

Anyone who buys tickets for this year’s Royal County of Berkshire Show at West Berkshire Council’s Tourist Information Centre could be in with a chance of winning their money back.

This year, the event celebrates ‘the year of the pig’ with headline attractions such as the White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team, made up of 30 volunteer soldiers from the Royal Corps of Signals. There will also be the band and bugles of The Rifles who are the only military regiment who march ‘at the double’ past the Queen, marching an extraordinarily fast 140 paces a minute.

As well as the usual attractions, there will be more than 600 shops, the food fare marquee, and cookery theatre. There will also be lots of great fun activities for children including an army zone assault course.

The show will also have a very special visitor this year in the form of a huge man made of wicker. The 30 foot high wooden wicker sculpture will tower above the grounds, as part of a tour across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The Oxford Sculpture Project is currently being built by school children across Oxfordshire, before being burnt at a special event in November.

Tickets for the show can now be purchased from the Council’s Tourist Information Centre at the Wharf in Newbury which is open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 5pm. Anyone buying their tickets will be entered into a special draw to win back the value on Monday 13 September. Terms and conditions apply call 01635 30267 or visit http://www.visitwestberkshire.org.uk for more information.

Only one entry is permitted per household. Five winners will be refunded the price of two of the cheapest tickets. Winners must be prepared to come back to Newbury Tourist Information Centre with their original tickets to receive their refund. The prize is non refundable and there is no cash alternative.
