Haven't they only recently employed "7 or 8 people in the team" to deal with the backlog?
If this is the case then it's far more applications per person that you've guessed at.
Is that an extra 7 or 8 people, if so, that means more people to deal with applications. The other way round to your suggestion. Actually there are three vacancies, one sick and one on maternity leave. How many people do you believe are in the department actually working and validating as of today.

If so that means there were less people to deal with applications in the past, hence the backlog I would guess.
No idea and if you don't know yourself you probably shouldn't be jumping to the conclusions as you have.
The 7 or 8 new employees in the department is what you posted. The NWN quotes 3 vacancies, plus one on maternity and one who had been "recently unwell". So, on the assumption that you were aware of the recruitment that had been going on, I thought that you had some knowledge of the situation and could answer the question. Do you believe then that my assesment of the staff level is incorrect.

I posted "7 or 8 new employees" as a quote from you in speech marks, to imply this probably wasn't the case.
I'm sure you knew this however and you're on the wind up again, so let's leave this here as the thread seems to have gone somewhat off topic.

You have added the word 'new' which is not what I said. My supposition was that there are 7 or 8 people in the department doing planning things. If you know better here's your opportunity.
