Chimney fire at the Old Waggon & Horses in the Market Place Newbury

Firefighters were called to the Old Waggon & Horses in the Market Place to deal with a suspected  chimney fire earlier today (Tuesday)

Fire crews were still on the scene at 3pm

funny thing....had a fare to Natwest bank 11.44am ,wait for customer,then return  to home,on this day,and while I was waiting by the wharf bollards,saw blue smoke puffing from upstairs window level ,...my fare returned at 12 noon,and we left back over the "bridge of fines"....I remarked about the smoke ,but he was unaware of any problem. Was I the first to sight the "fire"....ps...unable to see where it was coming from ,as we[taxis] still not allowed into market place.
