Part of Northbrook Street in Newbury had to be cordoned off earlier today when the advertising banner suspended across the street broke loose in gale force winds. The wire suspension cables were causing a serious hazard to passing pedestrians, and the fire service had to be called to detach the remaining wires from the buildings on either side.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt by the flailing wires, and the situation was quickly brought under control by the emergency services.

I saw the police attending that one! Priceless.
