No go for pedestrians.
12th September 2004 11.02am

Pedestrian access to the Sainsbury’s Supermarket in Kings Road has been restricted over the weekend following an accident which demolished one of the traffic light pillars, leaving electricity cables exposed. The crossing links Kings Road West across the busy A339 to the Sainsbury’s Superstore.

Pedestrians and cyclists have been ignoring the closure and climbing over the barrier and then negotiating the central reservation where the demolished traffic light pillar is still obstructing the pathway. Even relatively mature ladies were spotted clambering over the barriers and dodging the traffic. An alternative route is available via the subway.
