Teenager stabbed at fair
14th October 2004 14.39pm

Police are investigating an assault in which a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the back.

Officers were called to the scene in Northcroft Lane, Newbury, at 10.25pm last night (Wednesday), by paramedics. The victim was taken to the North Hants Hospital, Basingstoke, with serious injuries.

An area of Northcroft Lane remains cordoned off this morning to protect the scene and any forensic evidence.

Det Sgt Neil Williams, of Newbury CID, appealed for any witnesses to get in touch: “This incident happened in the road close to the fair, which is being held in the park, so there were lots of people around. If you were in the area, please have a think about whether you saw something which could be connected. We believe three people were involved, all of whom were wearing sports clothes.”

Anyone who believes they witnessed something connected to the incident is urged to contact Det Sgt Williams at Newbury CID via 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, if you do not wish to speak to police or leave your name, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
