More Chieveley roadworks

The two slip roads on the A34 at Chieveley will be closed overnight next month while new traffic monitoring equipment is installed. From next month, villagers in Chieveley and Hermitage will have to use the old A34 past Donnington, or the B4009, where a petition to cut speeding is currently with West Berkshire Council. The work is expected to take up to three nights.

More town centre flats

West Berkshire Council is selling some of its office space so a private developer can build more flats in the town centre. The council’s social services department is looking to build 13 flats in West Street, with Colborn Homes. The council’s planning committee will decide whether this change of use is acceptable.

Wait till the midnight hour

The Hogshead has applied to stay open until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is the first variation of opening hours since government reform of drinking hours, which dated back to World War One.
