| Firefighters gathered at Newbury Fire Station this week to launch a new hoax calls poster, called “Hoax calls endanger lives.”
The posters, paid for by Vodafone, will feature on all fire engines in Newbury, and community safety manager David Phillips said: “This campaign really aims to highlight the dangers of making hoax calls to the Fire Service. Fire fighters have to respond to every call they receive, and if the call isn’t genuine it means tying up valuable resources that could be used at a real incident elsewhere.
“The consequences of doing this could be as tragic as death or injury to another individual. It might seem like a bit of fun but it can have very serious consequences and we hope people will see these posters on the fire engines and think twice before they make a hoax call. ” |
