| After weeks of work by engineers at the Kennet Centre multi-storey car park, the new Pay on Foot terminals are expected to go live on Monday 9th May. It is unknown at this stage if the car park will be open 24 hours with the introduction of the new evening charge to subsidise the operation of the new cinema.
Season ticket holders will be issued with special “pass thru” cards to enable them to continue to park on the top floors. It is unclear at this stage how the new system will affect the dozens of motorists who currently use the car park as an escape route when they find themselves trapped by the rising bollards in Bartholomew Street.
Newbury.net has received unconfirmed reports that increased car parking charges will be introduced throughout the town once the results of the election have been announced. This will be in conjunction with the installation of new “Pay and Display” terminals at all remaining town centre car parks by the end of June |
