Newbury Fringe Festival
15th May 2005 21.02pm

What are you doing on Sunday 29th May? Whatever you have planned, bin it and hurry down to the centre of Newbury for a day of festival fun, all for free! The Fringe's new website - www.NewburyFringeFestival.org - has all the details.

The day starts in Victoria Park, but also takes place in the stunning Corn Exchange Balcony Bar, the Kennet Shopping Centre and the Market Place. There's multicultural sound, street theatre, dance and craft activities of every kind.

The Fringe is a showcase for the local talent of West Berkshire and North Hants; something for every member of the family, in the very heart of Newbury.

Whether you are sixteen or sixty there is music to suit all tastes - swing, rock, pop, jazz and African drumming in the park from noon into evening, jazz and classical in the Balcony Bar of the Corn Exchange and dance in the Kennet Centre - exotic middle eastern dancing included!

What's in the Market Place then? The answer is... the Feltre Flag Wavers visiting Newbury from twin-town Feltre, Italy. Organised by the Twin Town association this will be an amazing sight with heart stopping sound. A unique chance to see this famed group rarely seen in this country - bring your camera!

Calling all children! Paint a mural with artist Tessa Kirby, take part in a children's karaoke session, join a photography workshop with Jane Body or wow everyone with a painted face. Artist Paul Forsey will be inviting you to create mosaics from old ceramic pots. There will be many more hands-on craft experiences to suit everyone; sculpture, wood carving, spinning, weaving, lace making and encaustic art.

There is a hint of Paris in the air as artists lay their paintings on the railings for Art on the Park and also the Open Studios exhibition "Pour Plusieurs Raisons" at the Corn Exchange.

See you in Newbury on Bank Holiday Sunday 29th May.
