| Sovereign Housing Association is more used to dealing with ‘neighbours from hell’, but today the tables have turned, and the social landlord is searching the region to reward ‘neighbours from heaven’.
Each year, residents nominate friends and neighbours who go that extra mile to make their community a better place to live. Whether doing a few odd-jobs for retired couples, helping the housebound with shopping, or organising a regular community event, it’s time these unsung heroes were nominated for a prize and a little recognition.
Last year’s winner, Maureen Martin from Fareham, Hants, helps out with her epileptic neighbour, and keeps watch on everyone’s house when they are on holiday.
Resident Participation Manager Nick Cross said: “I expect many of our 20,000 residents have stories to tell on this subject, and it gives them a chance to say a special thank you to those who help them week in week out.”
“Only a tiny minority of our neighbours cause a nuisance, and I am sure there are many more unsung heroes who benefit their communities.”
Entries to be posted to Sovereign’s head office (communications team) by Friday 24th June, and we will announce the winner shortly afterwards. |
