New lease of life for town pubs
14th June 2005 10.2am

Investment in Newbury’s nightlife continues apace. Pub companies are helping the Starting Gate at Speen to a new frontage to attract more drive-by customers. In West Street, The Lion is hoping to take advantage of summer by improving its outdoor drinking area. The Wadworth-owned pub has applied to build a pergola and walled area at the rear of the pub.

And finally, Alfredos tapas bar has changed its name to Ambiente, and is hoping to entice office workers into Bartholomew Street to sample continental beers and authentic tapas dishes.
