| Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a Newbury pub.
A member of staff at the Lock, Stock and Barrel pub, in Northbrook Street was pushed in to the venue as he opened up at 7.47am today (24/11).
The man was then assaulted by the offender, who was carrying a knife, and tied-up.
The offender then took an as yet unconfirmed amount of money from the safe, before placing the money in a ruck-sack and leaving the bar.
DC Mark Ridley, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a serious incident, in which the victim was assaulted and tied-up and a large quantity of money was taken from the safe.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer to get in touch as they may have vital information which could help the investigation.”
The offender is described as white, 5ft8ins, wearing a black jacket with a hood and a dark scarf over the lower part of his face. He was dresses in black clothing.”
The victim did not suffer any serious injuries in the attack, but he has been left shaken by his ordeal.
