Traffic plan could ease raceday queues
26th November 2005 0.20am

A £30,000 roundabout is planned near Newbury Racecourse to cut traffic queues by two thirds. West Berkshire Council hired two sets of traffic consultants to consider either a miniroundabout for Greenham Road/Racecourse Road, or a £115,000 traffic light system. Highways officers are recommending the roundabout for approval by the Conservative-run authority. It’s predicted that rush hour queues will be cut from 300 yards to 100yards.

The improvement has been prompted by the 180 home David Wilson development at the Racecourse, but will also assist people walking to the racecourse.
