Lucky punter scoops jackpot at Newbury Races
26th November 2005 08.21am

How would you like your money sir? Cash or cheque?

This was the difficult decision facing Ian Humphries from Salisbury after he scooped £124,000 from a £2 bet. He had not used any particular skills in the six-horse accumulator.

His last choice was 28/1 outsider Ballyhoo on Friday, the first day of the Hennessy Gold Cup Festival at Newbury Racecourse.

Obviously everyone in the Humphries household will be having a fantastic Christmas.

The Hennessy Festival continues today with the prestigious Gold Cup itself and a family fun day with a Christmas theme tomorrow.
