| Kick FM launches its Christmas Toy Appeal this Friday morning (December 9 2005) on West Berkshire’s Brighter Breakfast Show.
The appeal is supported by Swift Couriers and the Newbury Building Society.
Presenters Chris Rose and Charlotte Butt will be joined in Kick FM’s studios by Newbury’s Town Mayor, Councilor Val Bull, who will launch the appeal to collect gifts for children under 16 in West Berkshire who otherwise would not have such an enjoyable Christmas. All gifts will be distributed by Social Services and Children’s Ward staff to young people alone, in need, or away from their families this Christmas.
The Newbury Building Society will accept donations to the appeal at their branches in Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford. Marketing Manager Melanie Mildenhall said, “We are delighted to act as a drop off point for the gifts. The staff at Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford are all behind the appeal and are looking forward to helping local children in need. We anticipate a good response and welcome everyone into our branches, whether they have a connection with us or not”.
And for those unable to drop off their gift, or for workplaces that wish to make a large donation Swift Couriers are running a collection service. Managing Director Adrian Smith said, “The Team here at Swift are really excited to be able to be involved in this project, which will have such immediate and positive impact on the local community. It is so rewarding to know your efforts will really make a difference to youngsters who still believe in the magic of Christmas”.
To arrange a collection donors should call the Swift hotline on 01635 571803.
Gifts can also be dropped off at Kick FM’s studios in Bone Lane, Newbury.
Kick FM’s Station Manager Andy Green said, “Last year our appeal made a huge difference to young people in West Berkshire. This year with the support of Newbury Building Society and Swift Couriers we will be able to put a smile on so many more young faces this Christmas.”
“It takes just a few moments to buy that extra gift that will make all the difference to a young person, who otherwise would not have such an enjoyable Christmas.”
The appeal can not accept foodstuffs or second hand items. To help ensure gifts reach the right hands they should be left unwrapped. |
