The project to put a 20ft bronze sculpture of a couple in conversation had stalled until Newbury Town Council took up the reins late last year. An application has now gone in to erect the statue on the Robin Hood roundabout. Previously, newbury.net reported how the St John’s Roundabout had been lined up for the piece by local artist Johannes Von Strumm, but the granite block base would have obscured or crushed the cables and pipes located underneath.
