More late night drinking in suburbs
31st March 2006 10.18am

Newbury Rugby Club could soon be keeping the bar open until 2am. Bar manager Andy McKelvie has applied for the weekend extension to drinking hours at Monks Lane. Only a handful of venues outside Newbury town centre, have permission to stay open beyond the traditional last orders of 11pm.

But there’s also good news just along the road, where the Old Bell reopens this weekend. The previous landlords failed to secure a new drinking licence in time for Christmas, and was told to shut down by West Berkshire Council. But new landlord Greg Bradley has secured a licence, and will be open 8pm-1am on Saturday.
