Business Park asks for more time
31st March 2006 10.23am

Greenham Common Trust has asked for five more years before it demolishes any more military buildings on the 150acre New Greenham Park. West Berkshire Council gave the Trust until January 2009 to replace the old airbase buildings with modern factories, warehouses and start-up space, but the Trust says it has a phased programme and wants the time limit extending until 2014.

Meanwhile, the new factory for Norma Products near the western entrance to the park is underway. Council planners had concerns about noise levels, but these have now been addressed.

A giant depot is also planned for the Sainsburys site fronting the common, and another depot is on the cards, as the Trust are in talks with Gazeley Properties, who built the Courage depot in Thatcham.
