| One of Newbury’s key political jobs is up for grabs, as local Liberal Democrats gear up for next year’s council elections and attempt to win back the parliamentary seat.
The move comes as former MP David Rendel prepares for a comeback in a party selection process on May 8, exactly a year after losing the Newbury seat to Conservative Richard Benyon.
The £20,000 a year post also offers a flat above the mobile phone repair shop in Bartholomew Street, which is owned by the party. However, the party has no local office at the moment, after Mr Rendel vacated Kendrick House.
Interested candidates should be enthusiastic, reliable and have campaign experience. Training in election law and desktop publishing will be offered, but anyone who fancies a punt at ousting the Tories is advised to contact Tony Vickers at tony.Vickers@phonecoop.coop |
