| A massive new Sunday market, combining traditional stalls, French traders and car boot sales starts in Newbury next month at Monks Lane.
Newbury.net can reveal that from Sunday June 4th, Newbury Rugby Club will host the mammoth event every Sunday throughout the summer, offering fry-ups, hotdogs, bouncy castles and a bar.
The idea came from former Newbury market manager Brian Newman and will feature dozens of stalls not seen before in Newbury. The Sunday megamarket is expected to draw thousands of local people, especially from the Pinchington Lane Retail Park, where store managers claim Sunday is their busiest day of the week.
Mr Newman told newbury.net: “It’s an exciting development to Newbury’s draw, and there’ll be something for everyone.”
The megamarket plan also coincides with the digging up of the Market Place, when the weekly market stalls will be moved into Northbrook Street on Thursdays and Saturdays. It’s not known at the moment how many of these will pitch up at the rugby club on Sunday, but the megamarket will run until the rugby season starts, by which time a new venue may have been found.
As ever, newbury.net will be the first to keep you up to speed on issues affecting our town. |
