Swap shop
30th May 2006 12.15pm

Nature’s Corner has successfully moved three doors down Bartholomew Street this weekend. The healthfood and alternative remedy business was set up in 1999 by sisters Liz Chandler and Caroline Withers, who fitted out the former Area 51 shop as their main trading area. The existing shop opposite Caffe Nero is to become a delicatessen and café.

However, the transition to food outlet may contravene current planning rules, which aims to protect the main shopping areas from being overrun with cafes and takeaways.

Newbury Town Council, which successfully fought plans to convert shops into pubs and restaurants in Cheap Street, Market Place and Northbrook Street, will debate the idea tomorrow night.
