Theo Walcott Kicks Off West Berkshire Rapid Response Car Fundraiser

Theo Walcott recently took time off from his World Cup training schedule and offered his support to the launch of the West Berkshire Rapid Response Car Fund’s new website (www.WBRRC.co.uk) and charity auction which takes part on Saturday, 24th and Sunday, 25th June, live on Kick FM.

England’s rising football star, who was born in West Berkshire, heard about the fund when he visited his local Volkswagen showroom in Newbury – and immediately offered his support.

“I’m from West Berks. So, when I was told about the West Berks Rapid Response Car Fund and its aim to buy three more safe, reliable cars so that the volunteers can help save lives, I immediately wanted to help.” Commented Theo Walcott, of England and Arsenal, “I know that while I am in Germany with the England World Cup squad, an auction will take place that really could make the difference between life and death for someone in West Berkshire. I’ve decided to donate an England shirt and an Arsenal shirt which I will sign especially for the winner. I’m hoping that all my fans will want one of the shirts and that the shirts will help the fund reach the amount needed for another car.”

The auction of ‘Things You Want To Get Your Hands On’ will be live on-air on, local radio station, Kick FM from 8am-4pm on Saturday, 24th June and Sunday, 25th June, and is supported by the Newbury Weekly News Group. As well as the auction taking place, it is hoped that the people of West Berkshire will also drop into their local branch of Newbury Building Society in order to make a donation – and to catch up with the Kick FM team who will be adding the fun into fundraising!

A wide range of local businesses have offered their support to ensure that there is something for everyone in the auction, including a Romantic dinner with an overnight stay, a cricket bat signed by Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, a Full Monty breakfast for four, Mum’s night off with Pizza and drinks provided, a make-up makeover, a designer hat, a photographic portrait, a ride in a hot air balloon, dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant, a Gentleman’s pamper, a well being package, , a girls spa event and much more! A full list of the auction items, as well as lots of other information about the fund can be found on the new website: www.WBRRC.co.uk.
