| Roadworks race goes to the wire
There’s just 11 days for workmen to finish repaving the remaining 50 yards of Northbrook Street in time for Newbury Carnival.
Headley builders Hope & Clay confirmed today that they’re on track to finish the £450,000 council contract in time for a revived carnival featuring nearly 40 floats and 500 participants involved in this years parade.
Shops makeover
The northern end of town continues to see private sector investment despite not featuring in the Vision for Newbury.
McDonalds is hoping to fit a new shopfront and cash machine, following hard on the footsteps of new winebar Eve, three new estate agents, and the Nepalese restaurant.
Still to come are Sainsburys Local and a new Chinese restaurant. As ever, newbury.net will keep you up to date.
Investing in new Market Place
Newbury estate agents Dreweatt Neate have got so fed up with late night drinkers messing up their Market Place shopfront that they want to build a new glass frontage.
The one-time Plaza nightclub has had a recessed entrance for years, making it a popular spot for drunks to urinate or throw food away, but the estate agent are now updating their frontage with a new logo and a paintjob. |
