Theo for Christmas light event
03rd July 2006 14.06pm

Newbury.net are delighted that Newbury Town Council reacted swiftly to our suggestion that Theo Walcott be invited to help the Mayor of Newbury, Councillor Gillian Durrant to switch on the Christmas lights in November.

Brian Burgess, managing director of Newbury.net contacted Graham Hunt (Chief Executive) at Newbury Town Council, back in May, when Theo’s selection for the World Cup squad was confirmed. The Mayor confirmed to Newbury.net last Friday that Theo had been invited and had more or less accepted the invitation.

A final date has not yet been set, but Newbury.net understands that the switch on event will now have to take place on a Wednesday rather than a Friday because of Theo’s weekend commitments.

Meanwhile workmen have started on the Market Place refurbishment today. All work is anticipated to be complete by mid November.
