| Villagers in Highclere will have to endure dog patrols and helicopter surveillance this weekend as Lord Carnarvon’s stately home prepares to host its latest celebrity wedding.
As newbury.net revealed last December, pop singer Cheryl Tweedy, of Girls Aloud, and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole will tie the knot at Highclere Castle this weekend.
Cole, 25, follows in the footsteps of Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, who married there in 2004. At the time, staff at the Swan in Newtown were shocked to see the Arsenal first team turn up for a pre-wedding drink.
Last year, glamour girl Jordan got hitched to Aussie pop singer Peter Andre after meeting on a TV reality show. The subsequent photo feature in OK! Magazine became their biggest selling issue, justifying the £1m price tag.
Castle staff and contract caterers have been vetted by the wedding organisers, but one told newbury.net: “We’ve known about it for months but were under orders to keep schtum. As an Arsenal supporter, it’ll be a dream day for me.” |
