| On Sunday 1st July, Captain Jack Sparrow and his band of pirates will be invading Newbury’s Market Place for a special performance of Pirates The Musical, which is based on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Newbury College’s Performing Arts students auditioned for the musical back in January and have been rehearsing since April for the performance, which takes place in the heart of Newbury town centre, after Newbury’s annual Carnival at 8pm.
Emmie Barker, Course Leader – Performing Arts said, “All the students, who are taking part in the production, have worked really hard in rehearsals and are very excited about performing Pirates The Musical in front of a live audience on Carnival day. Many areas of the College have joined together to make the production possible. Students from the College’s Art Department have created an animatronic monkey and Rob Jones (Lecturer in Technology) and Phil Gadd (Lecturer in Construction) have made the fantastic pirate ship, which is the show’s centrepiece. It’s now all hands on deck to get it painted in time for the performance! “
Tickets for Pirates The Musical (£5 for Adults, £4 for Concessions and £12 for Families) are on sale now from Newbury College’s Monks Lane campus or by calling 01635 845000.
